Independence and how this site is funded
Germany Expat Tools is funded by advertising through Google AdSense and by affiliate partnerships. We disclose this honestly: when you open some services through our links, for example a blocked account or expat health insurance via our partner Fintiba, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes the figures shown or which option a tool says fits you; the results are based on what you enter and the official rules, not on which partner pays a commission.
Where the figures come from
Points, thresholds and requirements come from official German sources: BAMF, Make-it-in-Germany, and the underlying law, such as the Aufenthaltsgesetz. Every figure links the source it comes from, so you can check it yourself rather than take our word for it.
How figures are verified and kept current
Each figure is checked against the primary source, not copied from other blogs or aggregator sites. Every tool and guide shows a "last reviewed" date. When a figure for the current year has not yet been officially confirmed, we flag it with a visible caution and treat it as a draft until it is confirmed.
What this site is not
This site does not provide legal or immigration advice. Only the German authorities can decide an application. The tools are simplified estimates and can't capture every personal circumstance; for decisions that matter, check with BAMF or a qualified immigration adviser.
Corrections
If a figure is wrong or out of date, we fix it and re-date the page. If you spot an error, please let us know; corrections are always welcome.
