What this is
Germany Expat Tools is an independent project that builds free, easy-to-use tools for people moving to and working in Germany, starting with an Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) points calculator. There's no sign-up, no paywall, and no data collection.
How the tools work
Everything runs in your browser. When you choose options, the calculation happens on your device; your details are never sent to a server. Each tool explains its method and shows when it was last reviewed.
Where the rules come from
Points, thresholds and funds figures come from official German sources (BAMF and Make-it-in-Germany), and every tool links the sources it relies on. When a figure is still being verified, we label it clearly.
Who builds this
Germany Expat Tools is built and maintained by Moiz Rauf, an independent software developer. The tools started as engineering projects: take the official rules published by BAMF and Make-it-in-Germany and turn them into something you can actually check: enter your details, see the number, follow the link to the source it came from. To be clear about what this is and isn't: Moiz Rauf is not a lawyer, immigration adviser, or Ausländerbehörde official, and nothing on this site is legal or immigration advice.
